Gateway Gathering in Review!!!
2007 Convention --- Was a Winner!!!
Assembling 208 students, teachers, volunteers and vendors
resulted in a very enjoyable gathering for our 16th Annual Convention. The hours of planning and preparation done by Sharon, Lynn, Committee Chairs and teachers
resulted in a well- received event. From the opening
classes to the last moments of the convention many beautiful baskets
were woven by 157 students. Attending
for the first time were 61 attendees including a few first time teachers and vendors. It was
a time for sharing our love of basketry with friends.
As special thanks goes to all the volunteers and doners of items for the raffles and welcome bags.
Special awards were
presented as follows:
Founding
Members Memorial
Scholarships in honor of Ann Clarke went to Lynanne Keleher and Judi
Miller. Each received a certificate for the registration fee
for next year’s convention.
The Roger Curry
Scholarships in the amount of the 2007 registration fee were awarded
to Yvone Fahringer (first time attendee) and Jeanie Dresslaer Smith
(returning attendee). These scholarships honor Roger’s
contribution to basket weaving in Missouri.
Martha Kay Larsen was the
lucky winner of the beautiful traveling basket created by Shirley Albrecht.
The
beautiful baskets displayed in the exhibit room made for difficult
voting choices. Three viewers choice awards were given to JoAnn Kelly Catsos, Roy Burkhart, and Marilyn Margrave.
